Lung Demonstration Model

Suitable for KS3+. A first hand view of how the lungs work! This simple, yet effective apparatus consists of two sacs which represent the lungs, a rubber membrane which serves as the diaphragm and a clear plastic enclosure which models the chest cavity. By making the diaphragm relax and contract the students can see how the lungs are emptied and filled with air. Size: 16.5cm (D) x 33cm (H). Please Note:  The balloons and diaphragm on this apparatus are made of natural rubber - as such it is liable to degrade over time and need replacing. If rubber is exposed to light and/or heat it will degrade faster. It should be stored in a cool, dry, dark environment in between use. Even then it will gradually degrade and crack with time, adding a little talcum powder to the rubber will also help prolong its life.
